How our cover works

PatientChoice offers two medical insurance policies to help you protect the health and wellbeing of you and your family.

The Hospital Treatment Plan is a low cost policy which provides cover should you or a member of your family need to go into hospital to have a medical procedure or operation.

In addition to the cover offered by the Hospital Treatment Plan, PatientChoice Access also provides cover for specialist consultations and scans.

PatientChoice Access

• Provides up to £300 a year for you to see a specialist consultant
• Provides up to £700 a year should you need an MRI or CT scan
• Provides up to £1,500 a year should you need a PETscan

The Hospital Treatment Plan

• The Hospital Treatment Plan offers cover for the 'big ticket' and expensive aspects of medical care, namely operations and procedures
• If you need a medical procedure or operation, we provide you with a budget of money designed to cover the cost of private medical care
• The amount of money varies and depends on the complexity of the procedure but the budget will always fall into one of 9 Bands.
• You can choose to use this money at any private hospital or alternatively you can choose to have the treatment in the NHS
• If you choose to have private treatment and the cost is less than the budget allocated for that procedure, then you can keep the money left over
• If you decide to have NHS treatment instead, then we will give you a cash lump sum to keep
